As a first-generation Asian-American woman, Amy found her passion for USA and Asian policy at Brown University. The different learning environment taught her to adapt to diverse situations fostering adaptability crucial to her success. Her commitment to diversity is what led her to pursue a career in politics and policy allowing her to acknowledge and address persistent barriers. It helped her to highlight the challenges of gender bias, emphasizing how important it is to stay true to oneself and embrace empathy as a strength in leadership.


Amy has experienced a multitude of experiences from joining the Navy to being in politics, reflecting how important civic duty and improving the lives of others is to her. She talks about the importance of failure and how it’s important in shaping leadership along with finding mentors and peers for growth.


Amy Zhang is a great example to young people on how important it is to accept who you are to be the best version of yourself.
