Juniorettes - A Wrap of 3 Years of Service

Updated: 13 hours ago

Last evening, our Juniorettes girls joined the DWC group and showcased their impressive work in serving our community for SY2025-26. Their performance was outstanding, from crafting the slides and dividing the presentation to delivering it flawlessly. Notably, this year, half of our members are seniors who skillfully balance academics, life, and work. Some are taking 4-5 AP classes and still dedicate time to community service.

After leaving the DWC meeting room, we immediately held a stand-up meeting to debrief and plan the details of our end-of-year celebration. The girls truly deserve a remarkable celebration. I deeply value the bond and trust we've built. While disagreements and misunderstandings may arise, we always come together as a team. We succeeded, and I am immensely proud of all the girls.

Reflecting on our journey, beyond the services we provided, I've implemented several key strategies to ensure the effective management of this group of teenagers and ongoing projects .

First, I closely monitored the budget. Before I took over, the bank balance was below the threshold, incurring monthly fees. This issue has never recurred in the past three years. Additionally, the club now has ample funds to purchase club t-shirts designed by the girls.

Second, establishing a yearly master calendar and finalizing monthly events at the start of each year gives us a proactive advantage. This ensures all members have a clear understanding of upcoming events, allowing them to save the dates and prioritize effectively. Minor adjustments can still be made throughout the year.

Third, I led the girls to establish a points system to hold members accountable for their participation. Although this system is new and requires further refinement in implementation, I am pleased it has been established.

Finally, embracing new ideas is crucial. Rather than repeating the same activities, we strive for a balance between maintaining cherished traditions, like the holiday gift project, and introducing new initiatives, such as guest speakers. My hope for the future if each girl name an inspiring women in a field that they might be interested, our club would invite a woman leader from that field to have a conversation with our girls. In the end, the girls themselves could summarize the similarities and differences among these role models.

A three-year period is an ideal timeframe—neither too lengthy nor too short. It provides ample opportunity to implement new strategies while sustaining existing ones. To encourage ongoing innovation with new ideas and actions, it's beneficial for the group to have someone new to lead after certain years. I am dedicated to ensuring a seamless transition for whoever steps into this role.
